For more than two decades Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) has been finding and sharing Smart Solutions to address the root causes of poverty in some of the most challenging environments in the world. It has done so by mobilizing the intellectual and financial resources of Canadians from every background, who share an understanding that the way of life we enjoy depends on helping make the world a more peaceful and prosperous place.
Thanks to the support of Canadians, AKFC and its sister agencies in the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) have reached some of the most isolated and resource poor corners of the world - rebuilding livelihoods in communities hobbled by poverty; strengthening institutions in emerging nations; and enabling individuals to unleash their creative potential through education and enterprise. “AKFC is unique in Canada in its ability to ‘think big’ – to take on challenging opportunities and to make them work.”
