| TOP 10 FUNDRAISING TIPS |
1. Make a List
|
The more people you ask, the more donations you are likely to receive. |
2. Set a Goal & Start Early
|
The most successful fundraisers start by setting a goal and work towards it. The earlier you start, the more likely you are to achieve your goal. Spreading your requests over a few weeks makes your task much easier. |
| 3. Give to Yourself |
Show your donors you believe in the cause by donating to yourself. It's easier to ask if you've already made a gift – you're setting an example for others to follow. |
| 4. Get Informed |
Read the About Our Work section on the Walk website so you can respond to questions your donors may have. |
| 5. Aim High |
Set your goal a little higher than you are comfortable with, and challenge yourself! Help donors by suggesting a gift amount: $25, $50, $100. Those first few gifts help raise the bar for others to follow. |
| 6. Make Your Case |
Why are you passionate about the Walk?
Tell your story – why you believe raising funds is making a difference, and is worthy of your time and support.
|
| 7. Follow Up! |
People are busy. If you haven't heard back from people you've asked for support, send a follow-up email or call them with a friendly reminder. |
| 8. Thank Your Donors |
It seems obvious, but we often forget to say thank you properly. Donors will always remember and appreciate a personal note of thanks. |
| 9. Be Positive |
Don't be discouraged if people say "no". You'll be surprised how many people will give when you let your passion and commitment to help end global poverty show through. |
| 10. Ask Your Company for Support |
Many companies have employee giving or matching gift programs. Ask if you can promote your efforts through your company's newsletters or e-communications. |
