Every year, thousands of people volunteer across the country, helping to recruit participants, promote the Walk, and organize Walk day activities. Typical volunteer positions are described briefly below.
Become a Fundraiser Joining the Walk as a fundraiser helps to build awareness about the causes of global poverty and raise much-needed funds to support Aga Khan Foundation Canada's international development initiatives. Register as a fundraiser for the Walk.
Kids Zone – (On-Site Activity) Set up of assigned activity and conduct activity throughout the shift. Ensure that our guests are safe and area is not over crowed to promote a safe play environment.
First Aid – (On-Site Activity) Roam assigned areas. Make yourself aware of safety concerns and hazards. Attend to any first aid calls and provide first aid assistance, if possible. Ensure all safety procedures are followed while serving food.
Ask Me – Host/Bus Hosts – (On-Site Activity) Meet and greet walkers and guests as they arrive. Be available to direct guests to areas around the site.
Route Marshall – (On the Walk Route) Guide walkers along the 5.0 km walk route and monitor crowd control. Provide water to the walkers as they pass your station, cheer and motivate the walkers to continue along their journey.
Global Village – (On-Site Activity) Assist in animating the Global Village activities. Participate in a training session (prior to Walk), interact with visitors and tell them about the projects that their fundraising efforts support.
