As a way to encourage their employees to give back to their communities, many companies have Volunteer Grants or Matching Gifts programs. Through these programs, companies recognize the valuable volunteer time and donations that employees contribute to charitable causes that they care about.
Volunteer Grants
As a volunteer fundraiser, you may be eligible for a Volunteer Grant through your employer. Volunteer Grants are offered to employees (usually includes retired employees) of a company who have volunteered for a set number of hours within a 12-month period – this includes hours dedicated to raising awareness and funds. The company offers to give these grants to registered charities as a donation.
Matching Gifts
Many companies have a gift/donation-matching program that will, in some cases, double the charitable contributions made by their employees. That means your donation can have a bigger and better impact on alleviating poverty.
